About us

Craig Adam and Doug McDonald saw a need for more secure storage in the Tasman Region due to the demand on existing facilities in Motueka. After purchasing a block of land on the old ITM Building Centre pole yard in King Edward Street, Motueka Secure Storage was launched in May 2015.

Craig set up Handyman Storage in Motueka in 1999, a purpose-built secure storage yard with 33 sheds in total. Enquiry was immediate and occupancy went swiftly to 100%. Craig fields calls on a daily basis from people wanting storage in the Tasman region and having to tell them "sorry, we're full" was starting to get to him.

He spoke to good mate Doug McDonald and a plan was hatched to find another yard and build a decent number of sheds.

Craig is a self-employed builder in Motueka and was hands on in the project - every step of the way. When he's not building, or fielding enquiries for Motueka Secure Storage he's likely off defending his NZ drag racing title.

Doug has worked on off-shore oil rigs for the past 20 years. Doug owns commercial property in Huffam Street opposite Craig's first HandyMan storage venture. As Craig was building Handyman storage Doug saw the potential in purpose built storage units and got to know Craig as "neighbours".  He was keen to get closer to home to be with his family and after a social catch up with Craig one day he suggested a partnership in a new venture.

Doug gave up the oil rigs to spend more time with his family and help out with the running of the storage units.
